Just a few days after being introduced into service, 165034 runs along the up relief line at South Moreton on 6 May 1992 with a crew training run from Oxford to Paddington. Class 165/0s were destined for the Chiltern Line, but in 1992 they were used on Thames Valley services, pending the arrival of the route's dedicated Class 165/1s.
