31178 passes Stenson Junction on 2 June 1984 with the 4M78 11:09 Leeds to Rugby freightliner. Just a single freightliner five wagon set here, but another would be added at Bescot, and once the train reached Rugby, it would connect with a service from Manchester, and then proceed on to Tilbury. This was an ideal train for photographers, as it was a Saturday working, and ran at a convenient time. It was usually Class 31 hauled, although 45s and 47s did sometimes appear.
