40057 & 40084 Moreton-in-Marsh 8 May 1982

In 1982 Gateshead depot specially prepared a pair of Class 40s for railtour duties, with a full repaint including red buffer beams and silver buffers. On 8 May 1982, 40057 & 40084 were used on the Class Forty Preservation Society's 'Cotswold Venturer' railtour from York to Paddington, via Worcester and Oxford. Unfortunately by the time the tour got to Moreton-in-Marsh the sun was head on, throwing both sides of the train into shade, however an opportunity was taken to picture the train between the signal box and Moreton's down home signal. Note the lack of health and safety concerns as photographers wander everywhere. There was a line of photographers where I am stood right across both running lines!
