43171 passes Rumney on 8 November 1996 with the 1A35 07:36 Carmarthen to Paddington Great Western Trains service. Just visible behind the signal gantry is the bridge carrying the Rumney to Peterstone Wentlooge road over the railway. The road was rerouted shortly after this picture was taken. The disused bridge survived until the line was electrified in 2017.
