47567 Banbury 4 May 1985

47567 passes underneath the newly constructed, but not yet in use, Hennef Way bridge, as it leaves Banbury on 4 May 1985 with the 1E13 14:13 Portsmouth Harbour to York service. Going the other way is the 1O92 13:56 Liverpool Lime Street to Portsmouth Harbour train, led by 47609. Note the then fairly normal casual attitude to lineside trespass, that was common when a steam special was due. On this occasion they were waiting for LMS Coronation Class 4-6-2 46229 Duchess of Hamilton with the SLOA 1Z69 Sheffield to Marylebone 'South Yorkshireman' railtour.
