47659 passes Stoke Gifford on 6 May 1989, as it accelerates away from Bristol Parkway station with the 1M56 12:00 Plymouth to Manchester Piccadilly service. With hindsight I should have taken more pictures at this location, and earlier in the day with a better lighting angle! As can be seen, in the 1980s there was hardly any vegetation on the sides of the cutting. Even before the 25kV arrived, the bushes had started to grow, so it looks a bit different now!
