One of the highlights of mid June evenings in the Oxford area used to be the various special trains returning from Royal Ascot. Culham was a favourite location, although by the new millennium the lineside bushes were beginning to cause shadow problems, as can be seen in this view of 47780 heading north on 21 June 2001 with a returning Ascot special.
