50002 Superb doesn't really live up to its name here, as its tatty external condition matches the miserable weather conditions at Hinksey on 12 March 1983. It is passing the contaminated ground that marks the site of Oxford gasworks with the late running 2A85 11:05 Oxford to Paddington service. Superb's less than superb condition would soon be rectified, as before the end of the month it would be called to Doncaster Works for refurbishment, emerging later in the year in gleaming large logo livery.
