86504 Halley's Comet passes Barby Nortoft on 14 November 1988 with the 6E42 12:34 Garston to Dagenham, conveying new Ford cars in Silcock Express branding cartic wagons. The masts of Rugby Radio Station dominate the background. The site opened in 1926, and at one time was the largest radio transmitting station in the world. The station gradually declined in importance, and the last of the masts were demolished in 2007, making way for a housing estate. The houses haven't reached this spot yet, and apart from the lack of masts, this view is still much the same. |
