D400 & 50033 Glorious arrive at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 5 December 1992 with the Class 40 Appeal 1T09 07:30 Euston to Holyhead 'Ffestive Fifties' railtour. Although only early afternoon, it was now very dark and starting to rain. The train was only moving very slowly, but the exposure of 1/60sec f1.4 was not really enough to arrest all movement. However, as you don't get many Class 50s here, it was worth recording. Directly behind Glorious is the disused Ffestiniog North station building. The station closed in 1982 when the new BR / Ffestiniog Railway interchange station (directly behind where I am standing) opened. The famous Blaenau Ffestiniog slate spoil heaps dominate the background.
