Howden's disused and boarded up signal box, pictured on 20 October 2026. The Grade II listed building was built by the North Eastern Railway in 1873. The box was extended forwards the level crossing in 1905 to accommodate a larger lever frame. This explains the off centre chimney and the larger window on the right. The box closed in 1997 when the adjacent level crossing was converted to remote operation from Selby. |
