Isambard Kingdom Brunel's world famous 1839 built Maidenhead Railway Bridge spans the River Thames with two very wide arches. Even today it remains the world's flattest brick arch bridge. An unidentified HST is pictured crossing the Grade I listed structure on 8 January 2000, long before it was disfigured by electrification masts. Maidenhead's other famous bridge, the 1777 built road bridge, can be seen in the background. |
