47293 Long Marston 17 April 1991

The blackthorn is in flower on 14 April 1991 as 47293 departs from Long Marston with the 6B53 Worcester to Gloucester Speedlink trip. A lengthy train, which became even longer at Ashchurch, where a string of flat wagons would be added to the rear. As with most MoD traffic, the loadings on this service varied considerably, depending on who we were at war with at the time! In this case, the first Gulf War had only just ended. For anyone visiting this location today, this view will come as a surprise, with its wide open views and virtual complete lack of any rolling stock in the sidings.
