No heat Class 47/3s were often pressed into passenger service during the summer in the 1980s, especially at the weekends. 47321 is pictured passing Hinksey Yard on 5 July 1980 with the 1O17 11:04 Birmingham New Street to Weymouth service. I should have paid far more attention to this train at the time, as records show that as well as 47/0s & 47/3s, Class 33s occasionally worked the train, and even on one occasion, a Class 40!
