47454 passes Lower Basildon on 11 February 1989 with the 1O09 08:08 Manchester Piccadilly to Poole service. This was the last time that I saw this loco, which was withdrawn two years later, just a couple of months after receiving the unofficial name Velocity. Lower Basildon used to be my favourite photographic location in the Reading area, but I haven't been back since the electrification masts started to go up in 2015.
