47487 approaches Shipton station on 12 June 1982 with the 1A75 07:05 Hereford to Paddington service. Unfortunately I took this a little too early, so this is a severe enlargement from a portion of the original Kodachrome 64 transparency. This is the only time that I saw this locomotive. It was withdrawn in 1988, and cut up the following year. The brickwork in the foreground marks the site of the former end loading dock. Just visible in the grass in the middle distance are the remains of the foundations for Shipton's goods shed. Like most of the stations on the Cotswold Line, this was a Brunel designed broad gauge timber structure.
